Reports of a oneweek ceasefire in Lebanon under Iranian pressure and with a US guarantee

Khaberni -   Media sources revealed today, Wednesday, about intense diplomatic movement led by Tehran and Washington to impose a comprehensive calm in Lebanon for a week, starting tonight, in conjunction with international efforts to extend the existing ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

A senior Iranian official told the Lebanese channel "Al Mayadeen" that a preliminary agreement had been reached under pressure from Tehran, aimed at halting military operations in Lebanon for a week, parallel to the US-Iranian truce.

The source indicated that Iran considers the US administration directly responsible for curbing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and preventing him from undermining this agreement.

On the ground, an Israeli official told the Hebrew site "Walla" that "there is no official decision yet to cease fire", referring to the presence of division or hesitation within the Israeli Cabinet, which is expected to meet to discuss increasing US pressure.

These developments come at a time when a Pakistani delegation has left for Tehran to convey messages from Washington that pave the way for the second round of negotiations.

On the international front, the "Associated Press" reported that Washington and Tehran have reached a "preliminary agreement" to extend the current truce, to give an additional chance for negotiators in Islamabad to settle outstanding issues.

Despite this optimism, a US official told the media that the extension has not yet taken on an official final form, pending the completion of some technical arrangements, reflecting the sensitivity of the current stage in international diplomatic backrooms.
