Khaberni - Three informed sources close to the new Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, revealed that he is still in the recovery phase from serious injuries that affected his face and legs, due to an airstrike that killed his father at the start of the war.
According to Reuters, the attack targeting the Supreme Leader’s headquarters in central Tehran resulted in disfigurements to Khamenei’s face, along with severe injuries to one or both of his legs.
Despite this, the sources clarified that Khamenei, who is 56 years old, still retains his mental focus and continues to monitor political affairs, participating in meetings with senior officials via communication technologies, and contributing to decisions related to the war and negotiations with the United States.
In the absence of any public appearances since the attack, his health condition and whereabouts remain unclear to the public, especially after he was appointed as the successor to his father on March 8 last year.
Tehran has not issued any official clarification regarding the extent of his injuries, while an announcer on state television described him as a "janbaz," a term used for those who have suffered severe injuries during wars.
This information coincides with statements made by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on March 13, who indicated that Khamenei had sustained wounds likely causing disfigurement, while informed sources familiar with U.S. intelligence assessments reported that he may have lost one of his legs.
