Khaberni - The Israeli military launched - early this Thursday - air raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut and southern Lebanon, following a bloody bombardment on Wednesday that resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries, despite US President Donald Trump's announcement of a conditional ceasefire with Iran.
The Al Jazeera correspondent reported that an Israeli raid targeted the southern suburb of Beirut, while raids targeted the towns of Safad al-Batikh, Majdal Selm, Shaqra, Kharbat Selm, Al-Jumjuma, and Deir Antar in southern Lebanon.
On Wednesday evening, the Lebanese news agency reported that Israeli aircraft conducted a severe raid on the Lilki-Kafa'at area in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and its sound was heard throughout the capital.
Israel also targeted a vital bridge on the Litani River in southern Lebanon, which is the last bridge leading to the city of Tyre from Beirut.
Previously, Israel had destroyed 6 other bridges since the beginning of the war, under the pretext of being used by Hezbollah to transfer military reinforcements to the south.
Hundreds of Victims
The Lebanese news agency also confirmed the death of one person and the injury of another in a drone targeting a motorcycle in the town of Qlaoui in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon.
182 people were killed and 890 others were injured in a series of Israeli air raids earlier on Wednesday, targeting various Lebanese areas including Beirut, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The ministry stated that the total victims of Israeli aggression on Lebanon - since March 2 - amounted to 1739 dead and 5873 wounded.
The Lebanese government announced that Thursday was a national day of mourning for the victims of the Israeli raids.
The Israeli military said -on Wednesday afternoon- that it had conducted widespread air attacks involving about 50 fighter jets, targeting areas in Beirut, the Beqaa Valley, and southern Lebanon, in an operation called "Eternal Darkness."
It clarified that it bombed about 100 targets using approximately 160 shells within 10 minutes.
Israel and the United States announced that Lebanon is not included in the ceasefire in the war between Tehran and Washington, contradicting statements from the Pakistani mediator and Iran.
