Inspired by Peppa Pig and Sesame Street Netflix launches a kids games app

Khaberni  - Netflix launched a new app on Monday called "Netflix Playground" featuring games inspired by famous children’s characters such as Peppa Pig and Sesame Street, as a step towards enhancing its presence in the children's gaming sector.

Analysts say that the streaming giant’s efforts in the gaming area have not yet emerged as a major growth driver.

Analyzers believe that one of the main challenges is Netflix's relatively limited portfolio in terms of intellectual property rights for famous works, compared to competitors like Warner Bros Discovery, which owns franchise rights, including DC Comics.

Some of the more popular games from Netflix include (G.T.A: San Andreas) from Rockstar Games and other games inspired by its successful shows like (Squid Games: Unleashed).

The streaming giant said that the new step aims to create "a structured space, where parents know that their children are entertained, engaged, and gaining knowledge".

It also aims to deepen engagement with families, as children's content is traditionally seen as a factor in reducing the rate of subscription cancellations, given the low likelihood of parents canceling subscriptions.

The new app designed for children aged eight or younger, is available at all Netflix membership levels.

It will be possible to play offline in games like Play Time with Peppa Pig and (Horton) from Dr. Seuss and Sesame Street.

In addition to family control tools, the platform ensures there are no ads, in-app purchases, or additional fees.

The Netflix Playground app is now available for download in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand.

The company will launch the app globally by the end of this month.
