Altman clarified in recent statements that the experience of fatherhood has changed his view towards "infinite scroll models" and screens that dominate children's minds, stressing the necessity for his son to spend time "playing in the dirt" at this stage rather than becoming what is known as an "iPad kid".
Between Traditional Parenting and Technological Reliance
Altman revealed a striking paradox in his daily life; while he strives to protect his son from screens, he entirely relies on "ChatGPT" to manage details of parenting, according to "Business Insider".
Altman recounted an incident where he had to consult artificial intelligence during a party after being worried about his son's delay in crawling compared to another child; the app provided a scientific answer that reassured him his child's development was within the normal range.
Despite this personal reliance, Altman insists that his son be on the "later end" of the reasonable timeline for interacting with artificial intelligence, aligning with the orientations of other tech leaders like Bill Gates and Sundar Pichai.
