The Egyptian Interior Ministry Resolves the Crisis of Shahrouras Niece

Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Interior intervened to end a special crisis for the niece of the late Lebanese artist Sabah, known as "Shahroura", after she posted a poignant message about her husband's health condition.

The Ministry quickly acted to resolve the residence crisis of "Shahroura’s" niece, following a moving appeal she made from inside a Cairo hospital, where she is accompanying her Egyptian husband through his treatment journey.

The story began with a post by Jano Feghali, who is of Spanish nationality and married to an Egyptian citizen, to the official page of the Ministry of Interior. She explained a complex humanitarian situation where her residence permit was about to expire, while her husband’s cancer and his hospitalization prevented her from going to the Al-Abbasiya passport headquarters to complete the routine procedures for renewing her residence.

In her message, she said: "I am the niece of the singer Sabah who made us all love and take pride in Egypt, and my husband is in the hospital and cannot accompany me to confirm our marriage's continuity.. Please help me, for I am confident that you will not let me down".

Less than 24 hours after the message, directives were issued for immediate action. Instead of waiting for her arrival, a team from the Passports and Immigration Division of the Ministry of Interior moved to the hospital where they reviewed the papers and renewed her residence in her room, considering her husband’s health conditions and ensuring her legal status was stable beside him.

Following the resolution of the crisis, the niece of "Shahroura" expressed her deep gratitude, thanking the ministry and the Egyptian authorities, stating that she felt as if she were among her extended family.

The incident witnessed significant solidarity, with the intervention of Soha Gendi, the former Minister of Immigration, who acted upon learning of the post to resolve Sabah’s niece's crisis, ending the situation in a manner befitting the status of the late artist’s family in the hearts of Egyptians.

It is noted that Sabah, known as "Shahroura", passed away on November 26, 2014, at the age of 87 after an artistic career spanning 60 years of continuous contribution.
