Massive Protests Bayern Munichs Controversial Comeback Before Facing Real Madrid

Bayern Munich secured an exciting win over their host Freiburg with a score of 3-2, in the match that brought them together in the 28th round of the Bundesliga, after turning a two-goal deficit into a dramatic victory in the last minutes, amid widespread protests from the home players.

The encounter served as the final test for the Bavarian team before their upcoming clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium.

Down by Two

Bayern entered the match looking to impose control early on, despite missing several key players, most notably the injured Harry Kane and substitute Michael Olise, but they faced organized defense and brilliant goalkeeping from Freiburg’s Noah Atobolu, who saved several dangerous attempts, notably a shot by Joshua Kimmich.

Despite the Bavarians' attempts, the hosts had the first word with the start of the second half when Johann Mansambi launched a powerful shot from outside the box that found the net in the 46th minute.

Freiburg continued to press, translating it into a second goal in the 71st minute, after a precise cross from Jan Niklas Beste which was met by Lukas Höler with a strong close-range shot into the net, marking a 2-0 lead for his team.

The Beginnings of a Comeback

Bayern did not give up despite being behind and the signs of a comeback began to appear with the offensive changes made by the coach.

In the 81st minute, Tom Bischof fired a rocket shot from outside the box that nestled in the left corner, reducing the gap to 2-1 and reigniting the atmosphere of the match anew.

Injury Time Madness

As the injury time (8 minutes) began, the match turned into complete football drama.

In the 90+2 minute, Tom Bischof once again grabbed the spotlight, after he launched a long-distance shot that settled in the right corner, leveling the score at 2-2.

In the 90+9 minute, Linhart Karl scored the winning goal for Bayern after a well-coordinated team attack, amid strong objections from Freiburg players, claiming the goal was scored after the added time had ended.

The final minutes saw clear tensions, with multiple yellow cards shown to protesting Freiburg players, before referee Daniel Siebert blew the final whistle at the 90+12 minute.
