Khaberni - The Iranian Parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, pledged -last Thursday- to "shed blood" for Iran, and in response to threats from Washington about launching a ground attack, stated that they are ready, steadfast, and waiting for the Americans.
Ghalibaf -in a post on the X platform in response to recent threats by US President Donald Trump against Iran- mentioned that about 7 million people have declared their readiness to take up arms and face the "enemy" and defend their country.
He added: "We are not just talking about defending the homeland, but about shedding blood for it. We have done this before and are ready to do it again."
Regarding American threats of a ground invasion of his country, Ghalibaf said: "We are armed and ready and steadfast. Come, we are waiting for you."
Trump -early Thursday- stated that Washington had -to a large extent- achieved its military goals in Iran, but added, "We will hit them very hard in the next two to three weeks." He explained that these attacks would return Iran to the "Stone Age."
Trump's statements came days after U.S. officials told the Washington Post about the Pentagon's readiness to launch a ground operation in Iran that could last two months, possibly occupying the strategic Kharg Island.
Since February 28, Israel and the United States have waged a war against Iran that has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, while Tehran responds by launching missiles and drones towards Israel.
Iran also targets what it calls American sites and interests in Arab countries, but some attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries, damaging civilian facilities, which the targeted countries have condemned.
