Macron Forcibly opening the Strait of Hormuz is unrealistic

Khaberni - French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that launching a military operation to forcibly open the Strait of Hormuz is unrealistic, following US President Donald Trump calling on US allies to work towards reopening it.

Macron explained to reporters during a visit to South Korea, "Some advocate the idea of forcibly freeing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz through a military operation, a stance sometimes expressed by the United States, though it changes from time to time."

He continued, "We have never supported this option because it is unrealistic. It would take a long time, and it would expose everyone passing through the strait to risks from the Revolutionary Guard, as well as ballistic missiles."

In response to a question about Trump's criticism of NATO member countries and his threats to withdraw from the alliance, Macron said: "I do not wish to continuously comment on a process decided solely by the Americans with Israel. They can denounce the lack of support, but this is not our operation. We want peace as soon as possible."

Macron also mentioned that Trump's comments mocking him and his wife Brigitte are "inappropriate and do not fit" the current moment.
