Jordan Leads International Condemnation of Israeli Death Penalty Law Against Palestinians

Khaberni - The foreign ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemned the enactment by Israeli occupation authorities of a law approved by the Knesset that authorizes the imposition of the death penalty in the occupied West Bank and practically enforces it against Palestinians.

The ministers warned against ongoing Israeli measures that entrench an apartheid system and adopt an exclusionary rhetoric that denies the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and their presence in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The ministers expressed that this legislation represents a serious escalation, especially considering its discriminatory application against Palestinian prisoners, emphasizing that such actions could escalate tensions and undermine regional stability.

The ministers also expressed deep concern about the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, warning of increasing risks in light of credible reports of ongoing violations, including torture, cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment, starvation, and deprivation of basic rights, affirming that these practices reflect a broader pattern of violations against the Palestinian people.

The ministers renewed their rejection of Israeli policies based on racial discrimination, repression, and aggression targeting the Palestinian people.

The ministers emphasized the necessity of refraining from actions imposed by Israeli occupation authorities that could incite tensions, underscoring the importance of ensuring accountability, and calling for intensified international efforts to maintain stability and prevent further deterioration.
