Indian Police Arrest Liquor Smuggler Using Camels to Bypass Checkpoints

Khaberni - The capital's Indian police in Delhi have arrested a liquor smuggler who used camels to transport his illicit goods.

A police spokesperson stated that Vinod Bhadana (48 years old), a resident of Anandpur village in Haryana state, was arrested early Sunday morning in the Sangam Vihar forest area.

He explained that the police seized 39 cartons of smuggled liquor, containing 1938 bottles, in addition to the camels and equipment used to transport the load.

The spokesperson clarified that the accused resorted to this unconventional method of transporting liquor due to strict security controls on the main roads leading to Delhi.

The police statement read: "By loading the liquor on camels and taking the forest belt route between Faridabad and Sangam Vihar, the smuggler was able to bypass checkpoints, patrols, and surveillance cameras. On the night of March 30, information was received about a smuggling attempt, and an ambush was set up in the Sangam Vihar forest. Upon arrival, as Bhadana was driving the camels, he was surrounded by a police force and was immediately arrested."

The statement added that the camels were rescued and handed over to the relevant authorities.

The forest belt in Sangam Vihar, located on the southern outskirts of Delhi near the Haryana state border, is a known area for smuggling activities due to weak supervision, easy accessibility by foot, and its relatively remote location away from the eyes of traffic authorities.
