European Threat Severe Sanctions and International Isolation Await Israel if Execution of Prisoners Law is Passed

Khaberni - The European Union issued a direct and harsh threat to the Israeli government today, Monday, to stop the passage of the "Execution of Prisoners" law planned for a vote tonight, stating its intention to impose broad economic and political sanctions if the law is enacted.

The Israeli News Channel 12 revealed intense diplomatic communications European officials are conducting with high-ranking Israeli entities, warning that Israel is "rushing towards a moral abyss" by enacting racist laws establishing different judicial systems based on race, especially as the proposed law denies Palestinian prisoners any possibility of pardon.

The sanctions threatened by the EU include cancelling or suspending the partnership agreement with Israel, which involves halting trade and technological and scientific cooperation, in addition to suspending the joint political dialogue.

The "Council of Europe" has also initiated swift proceedings to suspend Israel’s observer status in its Parliamentary Assembly and its various committees, with a final decision expected to be issued next June.

Reports indicate that the President of the Knesset has received official letters from the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe warning of the severe consequences of this legislation, confirming that even a moderated form of the death penalty would lead to the immediate isolation of the Knesset and Israel from all European parliamentary activities.
