4 European Countries Warn Against Israeli Law on Death Penalty

Khaberni - A statement issued by the German Foreign Office on Sunday mentioned that the foreign ministers of Germany, France, Italy, and Britain urged Israeli legislators to abandon a bill that would significantly increase the chances of imposing the death penalty in Israel.

The statement added that the ministers expressed their "deep concern" about the bill, which is likely to be submitted for voting to become law within days.

The statement continued: "We are deeply concerned about the inherently discriminatory nature of the bill. The enactment of this law would threaten Israel's commitments to democratic principles."
