He left the realm of the mortal, heading to the eternal abode, next to the Great Lord of the Worshippers, in fulfillment of Allah's decree and His inevitable fate, the esteemed lawyer Professor / Samih Fahim Al-Habashneh (Abu Yarub).
With his departure, kindness, leniency, spontaneity, and warmth have left us. With the departure of Professor / Samih, generosity, chastity, purity of heart, decency of speech, and good temperament have left us.
Abu Yarub, the beloved friend, the sincere, the calm, the composed, the genuine, who professionally respects differing opinions and venerates the sanctity of diversity has left us.
Praise be to you, my friend Abu Yarub, I attest that you were kind-faced, with a radiant and bright demeanor, forgiving ('faults disappeared with you') as they say. You were indeed, Abu Yarub, an affable Arab, always smiling, composed, engaging, shining in appearance, and handsome in presence, before what befell you.
He used to say and often repeat to me: ((My cousin Abu Khalid, watch out for the Jew (Barrel or whatever his name is), those Zionists are treacherous)). He meant the Zionist journalist and the main columnist in the Zionist newspaper Haaretz, Tzvi Barel, when he wrote an article about me, criticizing my writings and doubting some of the information with which I reveal the treachery of enemies, including the Zionists.
I met Abu / Yarub in Kerak in 1978 when I came on vacation from the beloved Emirates, traveling by my car. There I was, in my hometown and source of pride, the beloved, noble city of Kerak, the birthplace of free men and women. He was sitting on a chair in front of one of the shops, and when I got out of my car, a man sitting on a chair in front of one of the shops caught my attention more than usual, as my car bore the Abu Dhabi license plate. I noticed he resembled one of my friends. So I stopped the car and got out to greet him. I greeted him, introduced myself as / Awad Al-Malahem and he was about to stand up from his chair and said: Indeed, but blond and from the Malahems, how so? I told him how: he said: Yes, blond and from the Malahems, how? And your car has a Gulf plate: Why? I laughed and told him my maternal uncles are the Dumur / branch of Al-Aqool, he said indeed, 'who is your closest uncle', I told him: My closest uncle, brother of my mother Sheikh / Abdul Halim Suleiman Al-Aqool (Abu Awad), and my mother's cousin: Sheikh / Abdul Majid bin Hassan (Abu Majid), and his brother / Atallah (Abu Mukhled), and among my mother's cousin's sons, the Hajj / Zaal Abu Doctor / Abdullah Dumur. He said, okay, okay I know them all. Indeed, they are all blonde. As for the license plate, it is from Abu Dhabi because I work there.
I said to him, may I take the turn to ask you now? He said go ahead: I asked him what is the relation between you and the engineer / Samir Fahim Al-Habashneh? He said: If you have a grievance, take it, and I am keeping my hands tied. I said may Allah spare us the evil of evil. He said: God finds good, yes he is my brother. He asked where do you know him from? I replied and said: We were colleagues at the University of Baghdad. He said: Oh what, Baghdad, my brother Samir studied at the University of Aleppo. I told him: And after he left Aleppo, from where did he graduate? Isn't it from the University of Baghdad? He said I'm just kidding with you, my cousin. And he said: God's mercy on you with your folks today, and I barely escaped his seriousness in inviting him.
And we lost contact for more than (30) years, I did not meet him, until I was honored to join / the Jordanian Association for Science and Culture. One day His Excellency Engineer / Samir Al-Habashneh came, and he said to me Professor / Awad do you recognize this handsome young man: My brother Samih Abu Yarub. I remembered our first meeting. But what pained me was that he was walking with the help of a cane. And I noticed that something from his handsomeness had changed. I asked him I see your situation is not normal, cousin, Abu Yarub? Have you had a car accident or something? He said: God, cousin, an evil eye (struck me), and I suffered from it what I suffered. He said: I mean, you compared and noticed the difference? I told him yes, you looked more handsome in your youth and before what befell you, you were very elegant, your face was bright, your appearance was all valor and handsomeness, and your clothes were very elegant. He said: This is what happened, my cousin.
Samih was kind-faced. Samih loved our folk sayings and proverbs. And he was radiant, always cheerful, adhering to his Kerak dialect, and he memorized a large amount of folk sayings and jokes.
My friend, noble in appearance, dignified, Professor / Samih, may God have mercy on you, treat you kindly and grant you the vast expanse of His Paradise.
I hope to offer my sincere condolences and great sympathy, to my fellow student, lifetime companion, and intellectual peer His Excellency Engineer / Samir Fahim Al-Habashneh (Abu Al-Fahd).
I am also honored to extend to the cousins the original noble Habashneh tribe and all the honorable Habashneh clans my deepest condolences and profound sympathy, assuring them that their loss has affected us, their great loss has pained us, may Allah accept your condolences, and indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
