Khaberni - According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, based on maritime navigation data, despite the announcement by the American president Donald Trump that Iran allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under the Pakistani flag in recent days, there was no recorded crossing of non-Iranian ships in the strait during that period.
The newspaper pointed out that the last ship flying the Pakistani flag had passed about two weeks ago, which contradicts Trump's statements, as it reported.
The American president, on Thursday, expressed that this step represents a "serious gesture towards negotiations", affirming the possibility of controlling Iranian oil and opening the strait if an appropriate agreement is reached, describing Iran's stance as acknowledging its defeat.
Sharp disputes
Analysts cited by Haaretz indicated that Trump's statements might aim to enhance his negotiating stance domestically and internationally, while navigation data confirms that the reality on the ground differs from the image the American president tried to portray.
In contrast, the Iranian news agency "Tasnim" reported from Tehran that it had provided an official response to the American proposal to end the war, demanding compensations for the damages and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, reflecting ongoing tensions between the two parties despite American optimism.
In his latest controversial statements, President Trump added a sarcastic touch while speaking about the war against Iran, after he urged Tehran to open what he termed "Trump Strait", before later clarifying that he meant the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump quickly corrected the designation with a sarcastic smile, stating it was "by mistake", but he did not miss the chance to affirm, in his usual manner, that he does not make mistakes.
