Khaberni - The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the arrival of about 3500 US Marines, transport aircraft, and attack fighters as part of the force accompanying the Tripoli ship to the CENTCOM operational area last Friday.
In a statement on the X platform, it said that the Tripoli ship possesses amphibious attack capabilities and advanced tactical assets.
The Wall Street Journal reported last Wednesday on the US military's preparations to deploy thousands of Marines and several additional warships to the Middle East.
According to the newspaper, about 2500 additional troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit - nicknamed "Pride of the Indian Ocean" - are currently en route to the region from California aboard the USS Boxer warship.
Other reports indicate the possible deployment of a combat brigade from the "82nd Airborne Division"; described as an "immediate response force" that includes about 3000 soldiers, capable of deploying anywhere in the world within 18 hours.
These units consist of ground combat elements, armored vehicles, artillery, helicopters, jet attack aircraft, a combat support element, and a command and control team.
