Do you suffer from constant lateness and failing to keep appointments Heres why

Khaberni - Do you always find yourself late or failing to meet appointments despite all your efforts? The reason might be "time blindness," a common phenomenon among those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, but it can affect anyone.

This disorder, according to experts, makes it difficult to accurately perceive the passage of time or estimate the duration needed to complete tasks, which explains the ongoing delays and postponement of commitments, despite a strong focus on organization.

Christina Luck, a mental health specialist and specialist in ADHD and neurodiversity, explains that "temporal maturity" is a person's ability to envision the future, estimate task durations, and prioritize based on future outcomes. This is something that those with time blindness lack, as they primarily live in the current moment, without a sense of duration or event sequence.

Studies confirm that a different perception of time is a central symptom in adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Hanna Maiowski, a social media marketer and founder of San Miguel Creative, says: "Time blindness means a detached feeling between my knowledge of time's existence and my sensation of its speed in the moment." She has to plan every step in advance, from picking outfits to preparing everything needed for going out, otherwise the minutes of the day vanish without realizing.

According to specialists, the trick to managing time blindness lies in using visual tools such as weekly and monthly planners, and setting clear reminders. Kate Osborne, an author and advocate for those with ADHD, warns against labeling those affected as lazy or negligent: "The deficiency in perceiving time is not laziness, but a scientifically proven neuro-perceptual difference," as what may seem forgetfulness or distraction could simply be your brain experiencing time in a completely different way.
