Khaberni - Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Staff of the Ugandan People's Defense Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni, announced that any talk of destroying Israel or defeating it would push Kampala to enter the war on its side. He wrote on his X account: "If Israel needs help, all they have to do is ask for it". He added in another post: "We want to end the war in the Middle East now. The world has had enough. But any talk of destroying Israel or defeating it will draw us into the war. On the side of Israel!". He continued: "We stand with Israel because we are Christians".
Kainerugaba is considered a potential successor to Museveni, and has often made exaggerated statements: for example, in 2023, he threatened to invade Kenya, while on other occasions he said he was ready "to cut off the head" of opposition leader Bobi Wine. In appreciation for Georgia Meloni's policy in 2022, before being appointed Prime Minister, Kainerugaba stated he was willing to give the leader of the Italian Brothers Party "a thousand cows" as a token of respect. In the past, diplomatic crises prompted by Kainerugaba's statements at the regional level pushed the president to adopt a similar stance. A hope that apparently did not materialize.
