Jordan AlMasri directs municipalities to raise readiness in preparation for the depression

Khaberni -   The Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid Al-Masri, directed the municipalities, joint services councils, and municipal affairs directorates in various governorates of the Kingdom to necessarily raise readiness and prepare for dealing with the unstable weather conditions and the expected depression on Wednesday and Thursday.
​The Minister emphasized the importance of inspecting culverts, rainwater drains, and valley channels, especially following the last depression, stressing the need to take necessary precautions according to the nature of each area, including expanding valley channels to ensure the flow of water, reinforcing protection for facilities through placing cement barriers or sandbags and earth dams, and mobilizing available resources to protect lives and properties.
The Minister highlighted the necessity to activate the operation rooms throughout the depression period, maintaining coordination with relevant entities to ensure quick response to any emergencies, urging citizens to exercise maximum caution and to completely avoid stream courses, valleys, and low-lying areas to preserve their safety.
The Minister offered congratulations and greetings to the heads of municipal committees, heads of services councils, municipal affairs directors, and all the administrative and field staff on the occasion of the happy Eid Al-Fitr holiday, appreciating their continuous efforts in serving the nation and citizens during the holiday and the coinciding weather depression.
​According to the early warning system and the meteorological forecasts distributed to all municipalities, scattered rain showers will begin on Wednesday morning covering various areas of the Kingdom.
​In the afternoon and evening, the impact of the weather depression will deepen, where the intensity of rain increases to become thunderous and accompanied by hail showers, categorizing the risk as "moderate" in most areas.
​Risk indicators will increase in the low-lying areas in the Jordan Valley, and the governorates of Irbid, Ajloun, and Balqa, with the potential impact on Aqaba city categorized as moderate risk towards the end of the day and evening.
Rain will continue to fall intermittently on Wednesday night to Thursday, with the risk indicator remaining between "low and medium," with a special warning for the possibility of heavy rainfall in the Disi Municipality area in Aqaba governorate.
