AlMomani 150 million dinars cost of regional events on Jordan during the month

Khaberni - Government Communication Minister and government spokesperson, Mohammed Al-Momani, stated that the direct cost of the regional events on Jordan reached about 150 million dinars this month, most of which was on the energy sector.

Al-Momani told "Al-Mamlaka", that this cost represents only direct expenses and does not include the challenges and indirect costs.

He pointed out that the government had operated the floating ship in the port of Aqaba to ensure the continuity of energy supplies, confirming that the energy sector has alternatives that guarantee the continuity of supplies in the kingdom.

Al-Momani explained that the government's approach to dealing with the crisis reflects the strength and robustness of the Jordanian economy and the flexibility of various sectors in facing diverse challenges.

He referred to two important decisions to ensure the continued effective operation of supply chains:

Road transport and lifting the exclusivity from the port of Aqaba: This decision allowed for a better flow of various goods into the Jordanian market.

Exemption from new costs resulting from rising prices: The government has exempted fees and taxes associated with price increases due to regional events, to mitigate any impact on the prices of goods in the local market.

Al-Momani confirmed agreements with Syria to facilitate transport and coordination between the port of Aqaba and the port of Latakia, to ensure the flow of goods coming from the Mediterranean, not just from the Red Sea. He added that these measures have contributed to mitigating the impact of rising global shipping costs while ensuring the continued flow of goods through border crossings.

Al-Momani said: "There is a cost resulting from the events, but what is more important is to ensure that various goods reach the Jordanian market smoothly."
