8 Airlines Resume Flights at Queen Alia Airport After Suspension Due to War

Khaberni - The Head of Operations at the International Airport Group, Albrus Hamzuq, said on Wednesday that 8 airlines have resumed their air operations through Queen Alia International Airport, after they had previously suspended them due to the repercussions of the war in the Middle East, at a time when 21 other companies are still waiting to resume their operations.

Hamzuq explained in his talk to "Al Mamlaka", "The aviation sector has been heavily affected," stating: "Actually, the negative impact is high in terms of aircraft movement at Queen Alia International Airport and in the region in general," adding that the airport "suffered like other airports in the region from the cancellation of airlines' operational schedules, scheduled flights, as well as the closure of some terminals or destinations."

He pointed out that these developments directly reflected on travel movement, noting that it led to "a decrease in the number of travelers and the number of flights", highlighting that the decrease in aircraft movement reached about 55% compared to the usual operational program.

In contrast, Hamzuq affirmed that the operations within the airport are still stable, emphasizing the ongoing readiness of the group, whether in terms of staff or infrastructure.

He mentioned that the challenges that emerged at the beginning of the crisis were focused on the difficulty of travelers' movement, saying: "In the beginnings, there were some challenges regarding some incoming or departing passengers, and most of these problems have been addressed," indicating that the current challenge lies in "the shortage of flights and the decrease in the number of travelers."

He affirmed that the destinations in the Gulf countries are the most affected, given that a wide segment of Jordanian travelers relies on them.
