Khaberni - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the interception and destruction of a drone in the airspace of the Empty Quarter, which was heading towards the Shaybah field, according to official sources.
The relevant authorities clarified that air defense systems detected the drone early, dealt with it immediately and shot it down before it reached its target, confirming that there were no injuries or material damages resulting from the incident, according to the official Saudi Press Agency "SPA".
Shaybah field is one of the largest oil fields in Saudi Arabia, operated by Saudi Aramco, and is located in a strategic area near the southeastern border of the Kingdom.
This incident comes amid rising security tensions in the region, amid concerns over targeting energy infrastructure, prompting countries in the region to strengthen their defensive measures to protect vital facilities and ensure the stability of global energy supplies.
