Khaberni - The Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned on Friday the targeting of Kuwait with missiles and drones.
The ministry said in a statement: "The Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemns the targeting of the State of Kuwait with missiles and drones."
In its statement, it emphasized Baghdad's rejection of all acts that threaten the security and stability of the region's countries."
The statement added: "The ministry emphasizes the importance of restraint and avoiding escalation that contributes to reducing tensions and enhancing regional security and stability, and reaffirms the necessity of adopting dialogue and diplomatic means to address crises."
The ministry also confirmed Iraq's support for all regional and international efforts aimed at preventing the expansion of violence and working towards peaceful solutions that preserve the security and stability of the region’s peoples.
Kuwait was targeted on Thursday morning by Iranian attacks with missiles and drones in response to the targeting of Bandar Abbas.
Reuters news agency reported early Thursday that the American military launched new raids on an Iranian military site alleged to have posed a "threat" to U.S. forces and commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The agency added, quoting a U.S. official, that the U.S. military also intercepted and shot down several Iranian drones that "posed a threat to U.S. forces and commercial maritime navigation."
