Khaberni - U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that the United States currently has about 415 million barrels of oil in the strategic reserve.
Wright added in his statements on Thursday that President Donald Trump is concerned about the rising energy prices during this short period.
The minister explained in an interview with Fox News that releasing part of the strategic oil reserves is partly aimed at ensuring the availability of oil supplies in the short term, especially in the Asian markets.
Wright continued, "We plan to retain more barrels of oil in the strategic reserve a year from now despite drawing from it."
Oil prices rose on Thursday after Iraqi security officials said Iranian boats loaded with explosives hit two fuel tankers amid other disruptions in global supplies due to the American-Israeli war on Iran.
Since Saturday, February 28, Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran, which resulted in the death of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded by striking Israel and countries in the region with missiles and drones.
Iran implemented a maritime embargo on the crossing of ships through the Strait of Hormuz and targeted oil tankers attempting to cross it.
