Jordan Research on launching supported tourism packages to target Arab markets

Khaberni  - Dr. Imad Hijazin, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, held an expanded meeting today, Thursday, with representatives of the tourism sector and members of the emergency room, attended by the Chairman of the Commissioners Council of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Shadi Majali, and the Chairman of the Commissioners Council of the Petra Region Tourism Development Authority Engineer Adnan Al-Swa'ir, and the presidents of tourist associations, a representative of Royal Jordanian, the president of the Petra Hotels Association, a representative of maritime transport companies in Aqaba, and a representative of specialized tourist transport companies, to discuss the repercussions of the regional situations and the war on the tourism sector, and the ways to stimulate tourist demand to the kingdom.

The participants stressed the importance of joint efforts among official entities and representatives of the tourism sector, including travel agencies, hotels, and air, land, and sea transport companies, to develop collaborative tourism programs that contribute to stimulating demand from international markets, particularly Arab markets where travel to Jordan is still available by air and land.

They discussed launching comprehensive and supported tourism packages that include several days of programs covering hotel accommodations, transportation, tour guides, and entry fees to tourism sites, to be offered at preferential promotional prices aimed at attracting tourist groups, with the possibility of reducing costs as the number of participants in these programs increases, which contributes to stimulating tourism movement to various tourist sites in the kingdom, particularly Petra.

They also discussed mechanisms to market these packages in targeted markets, especially in the Gulf states, Iraq, Egypt, and the Maghreb countries, through joint promotional campaigns between the public and private sectors, alongside boosting direct marketing among companies and delivering the tourism packages to partners in those countries.

They also explored coordination mechanisms with relevant authorities to facilitate security procedures for tourist groups coming through approved travel agencies, contributing to easing their entry movement and speeding up their procedures.

Minister Hijazin also discussed with representatives of the sector a number of demands from tourism establishments and tourist transport companies, in the context of supporting the continuity of their work and enhancing their ability to overcome challenges faced by the sector under the current circumstances.

This meeting comes as part of efforts to enhance the recovery of the tourism sector and support its continuity in the coming phase.
