Khaberni - Nadine Al-Nimri, the Director of the Communication and Public Relations Department at Tkiyet Um Ali, said on Wednesday that the educational services provided will include about 1700 students within a shift system, in addition to establishing a production kitchen that provides employment opportunities for several residents within the shelter units, and providing food daily during the holy month of Ramadan, totaling 5,000 breakfast meals daily for residents in the tents.
Al-Nimri explained through Al Mamlaka TV that the selection of tent distribution areas was based on the needs and in coordination with the partner association in the Gaza Strip, where the tents were distributed in northern, central, and southern sectors of the Strip, including east and west Gaza City, Jabalia, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis, which are the five geographical areas included in the shelter units.
She added that Tkiyet Um Ali's interventions were not limited to distributing tents, as 40 sanitary units (bathrooms) were also rehabilitated and built to meet the significant need within the camps.
Furthermore, 9 educational rooms have been established operating on a shift system, benefiting between 35 to 45 students in each shift, from kindergarten up through the tenth grade, receiving education in core subjects including Arabic, English, Mathematics, and Science.
Regarding logistical challenges, Al-Nimri pointed out that transporting aid to the Gaza Strip faces significant difficulties, clarifying that there is currently no movement of convoys through the crossings from Jordan to the Strip, which prompted Tkiyet Um Ali to decide on securing needs and purchasing supplies from within the Gaza Strip.
She added that in cooperation with the partner association "Palestine Tomorrow", the requirements for the tents were secured from within the Strip, specifically using the best-known type, the German tent, used to replace damaged tents and establish new ones for families without shelter.
She noted that one of the camps included in the project is designated for families of orphans and families headed by women, emphasizing that the interventions were not limited to providing food needs but also included providing psychological and social support to children, especially those who lost family members or experienced difficult circumstances during the war.
Al-Nimri pointed out that the activities are carried out through educational classrooms and activities held during the iftar periods.
She confirmed that the ongoing Israeli aggression for more than two years has caused significant losses and wide humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip, indicating that the restrictions and difficulties imposed on bringing in aid mean the needs of the population will remain large.
She added that Tkiyet Um Ali's involvement in the comprehensive humanitarian response helped alleviate the suffering of affected families, where the aid was not only limited to food but also included providing shelter, food, and education, which are essential needs during periods of crises and wars, highlighting the importance of providing shelter, especially under cold weather conditions and the difficult circumstances faced by the residents.
She clarified that the value of the humanitarian response executed by the Tkiyet in the Gaza Strip amounted to about 950 thousand dinars, affirming that this support would not have been achieved without the donations and support of Jordanians, as it was entirely financed by funds and donations allocated by Jordanians to support the people of the Strip.
Regarding plans for the next phase, Al-Nimri stressed that Tkiyet Um Ali is fully prepared and ready to deal with challenges and crises, indicating that the Tkiyet operates according to a participatory methodology with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization and several partner associations.
She added that the Tkiyet is partnered with 3 associations inside the Gaza Strip, always striving to find ways to quickly reach the most vulnerable and fragile groups and provide the necessary humanitarian response to their needs.
Tkiyet Um Ali announced the delivery of all 1,000 tents as part of its comprehensive humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip to improve the shelter conditions of displacement camps, located within its shelter units across five geographical areas, with a total value of 950 thousand dinars.
