Khaberni - Frequent constipation is a common problem that may drive some to resort to products marketed as "colon cleansers" or detox drinks.
Despite these products' promises of quick relief, most contain potent ingredients that may irritate the digestive system or worsen the condition instead of improving it.
Dr. Joseph Salhab, a gastroenterology specialist, shared via "Instagram" a recipe for a natural drink that he considers more effective than many commercial colon cleansing products.
How to prepare the drink at home
Choose soluble fiber:
Use one tablespoon of psyllium, ground flaxseeds, or chia seeds; these fibers support bowel movement and help regulate digestion.
Add your preferred liquid:
Mix the fiber with 240 to 350 ml of water, lemon water, milk, or use it as part of a smoothie.
Add fruit:
Add one or two servings of fiber-rich fruits such as kiwi, berries, apples, pears, mango, dragon fruit, or watermelon. Fruits can be used fresh or frozen.
Fresh ginger (optional):
Add a pinch of fresh ginger to aid the digestion process and reduce bloating, giving the drink a refreshing flavor.
Mix the drink well and drink in the morning, preferably trying it daily for a week to notice improvements in bowel movement and an overall feeling of comfort.
