Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said on Monday, that Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese informed him that five players from the Iranian women's football team are under the protection of the federal police amid fears of possible punishment.
An earlier report by Australia's SBS network mentioned that five players "escaped" after the team was eliminated from the Asian Cup, and that they are under the protection of the federal police seeking assistance from the government.
Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform after his conversation with Albanese, "The situation of the five players has been addressed, and the rest are on the way."
He added, "But some of them feel they need to return because they are concerned about the safety of their families, including threats their relatives might face if they do not return."
