Real Madrids Fears Force Them to Back Out of Signing Rodri

Khaberni - Real Madrid plans to bolster their midfield by signing a new player during the summer transfer window, as part of their efforts to fill the gap left by the departure of veteran duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

The name of the capital club has been linked with several players in recent months, most notably Rodri, the star of Manchester City and the Spanish national team.

Rodri's future with Manchester City remains uncertain as his contract with the English club ends in the summer of 2027 and he has not reached an agreement on renewal, making him available at a reasonable price next summer, which represents good news for Real Madrid.

The Spanish newspaper "As" reported that Real Madrid does not intend to move to sign Rodri despite rumors that the Spanish star will be available for only 50 million euros next summer.

It added that Rodri, who is 29 years old, is highly regarded by Real Madrid officials, but the Spanish club's management does not plan to sign him due to concerns about his physical condition and declined performance since he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in September 2024.

It noted that Rodri’s advancing age also remains among the factors that keep Real Madrid from signing him as the Spanish giant is more interested in signing younger players.

It pointed out that Real Madrid's declining interest in signing Rodri is good news for Manchester City officials and reduces the obstacles in front of the English club's efforts to sign a new contract with the player before the start of the 2026 World Cup competitions.

The Spanish newspaper concluded its report by stating that Real Madrid is interested in other names to strengthen the midfield next summer, notably Vitinha from Paris Saint-Germain.
