How to Maintain Your Energy While Fasting During Ramadan

Khaberni - During Ramadan, many fasting individuals face the challenge of maintaining energy and activity levels throughout the day, especially with changes in usual sleep patterns and delayed times for breaking the fast and the pre-dawn meal, in addition to changes in daily dietary habits.

Fasting for long hours without food or drink may lead to feelings of exhaustion or poor concentration, especially during the first few days of the month, making it crucial to follow healthy strategies to maintain physical and mental activity and enjoy a safe and beneficial fasting experience.

According to the "Cleveland" medical site, five tips can be followed to enhance activity and health during fasting:

A balanced and healthy pre-dawn meal
Choose a pre-dawn meal rich in complex carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, and fruits and vegetables, such as whole grain bread, brown rice, eggs, avocados, labneh, and bananas. Don’t forget to drink enough water before dawn to ensure continued activity.

Light activity
Add some light movement throughout the day, such as stretching exercises, short walks, or breathing exercises, to stimulate blood circulation and rejuvenate energy.

Sleep regulation
Maintain a regular sleep pattern, and take advantage of a short nap during the day to make up for sleep deprivation, or sleep early on some nights to compensate for staying up late after breaking the fast and the Tarawih prayers.

Maintaining body coolness
With rising temperatures, use fans or air conditioners, and avoid direct exposure to the sun. Monitor signs of dehydration or severe fatigue and seek medical help when needed.

Positive social interaction
Take advantage of the Ramadan atmosphere to boost mental energy, by reading the Quran with the family or visiting friends and neighbors while adhering to health measures, as positive interaction enhances mood and activity levels.

By following these simple guidelines, fasting individuals can maintain their activity and health throughout the holy month, and enjoy the spirituality of Ramadan and its unique social atmosphere.
