Israel said it carried out a "preemptive" attack against Iran on Saturday, which renews the military confrontation in the Middle East and undermines the chances of reaching a diplomatic solution to the prolonged conflict with the West regarding Tehran's nuclear program, at a time when the Fars News Agency reported three explosions in central Tehran.
This attack, which was preceded by a 12-day aerial war between Israel and Iran in June, follows repeated warnings from the United States and Israel that they would launch another attack if Iran continued with its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said "Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran to counter the threats it faces."
Iranian media reported the sound of explosions in Tehran on Saturday.
