Commotion Under the Dome Following Description of the House of Representatives as a Talking Council

Khaberni  - The session of the Jordanian House of Representatives on Wednesday witnessed wide debate under the dome, following a speech by representative Ayman Al-Badadweh, wherein he described the council as a "Talking Council".

This phrase provoked the deputies, necessitating a quick intervention to control the session's pace and to emphasize the importance of using language befitting the stature and dignity of the legislative institution.

In direct response to this description, deputy Ahmad Humeisat objected through a "point of order", stressing that the House of Representatives is a constitutional, supervisory, and legislative institution, not merely a place for talking as described.

Humeisat demanded that the council president put the matter to vote, to expunge the term "Talking Council" from all official statements and documents.

The vote indeed resulted in a majority of the members approving the rejection of this term and its final removal.
