Khaberni - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that Mexico will not be a full member in the "Peace Council" formed by US President Donald Trump, and will only participate as an observer in the council.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Sheinbaum said: "We have issued an official statement, which states that we recognize the pursuit of peace within any framework created. However, when it comes to peace in the Middle East and Palestine, and considering our recognition of the state of Palestine, it is important for both nations, Israel and Palestine, to participate, and this will not occur at the meeting."
She clarified that Mexico received a proposal to join the initiative as a member or as an observer.
She added that Mexico decided to send the Mexican delegate at the United Nations, Hector Vasconselos, to the first meeting of the "Peace Council" as an observer.
It is noted that the first meeting of the "Peace Council," established under the initiative of US President Donald Trump to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and to discuss other international issues, is scheduled to be held in Washington on February 19th.
