Khaberni - The Higher Education Council in its recent session chaired by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Azmi decided to cancel the comprehensive exam held by Al-Balqa Applied University for students at the diploma stage, and to specify a new mechanism for bridging in universities for new students, or those who have previously taken the comprehensive exam.
Here are the details of the decision:
First: The Higher Education Council decided to cancel the comprehensive exam held by Al-Balqa Applied University for all diploma students who complete the requirements of the approved curriculum at the intermediate diploma level, effective from the date 16-2-2026.
Second: Regarding bridging to the bachelor's degree, whether in the parallel program in public universities, private universities, or university colleges, it shall be according to the following:
• The student's cumulative average in the intermediate college is accredited, according to the list of corresponding specializations approved by the Higher Education Council, provided that the student's cumulative average is not less than (70)% for bridging in engineering and veterinary medicine specializations, and (68)% for bridging in other specializations.
* Students who have succeeded in the comprehensive exam in previous years are allowed to bridge in the parallel program in public universities, or in private universities according to the cumulative average of the student in the intermediate college, or their average in the comprehensive exam according to the prescribed rates.
Third: Regarding bridging to the bachelor's degree in the regular program in public universities, the bridging process is limited to students who obtain the intermediate university certificate in the current year only, and it shall occur as follows:
* For the purpose of achieving fairness and equal opportunities among students, all public/private universities and colleges that grant an intermediate diploma are committed to listing the names of the top five percent of students in each specialty within them once a year (during the month of August) after students complete the graduation requirements in all semesters (first + second + summer) for that year, and to provide these names to the Unit of Unified Admissions Coordination, provided that the student’s cumulative average is not less than (70)% for bridging in engineering and veterinary medicine, and (68)% for bridging in other specializations.
* The Higher Education Council, through the Unit of Unified Admissions Coordination, will hold a general acceptance exam for the top five percent of students nominated by their universities/colleges, who wish to apply for bridging in seats allocated for them by the Higher Education Council in the regular program in public universities, where they will be competitively admitted based on their marks in the acceptance exam, with adherence to the list of corresponding specializations approved by the Higher Education Council.
