Khaberni - The Supreme Court upheld the death penalty by hanging until death for a 36-year-old nurse, after confirming his conviction for premeditated murder with malice aforethought against his friend, in a case dating back to 2024.
A judicial source said the decision endorsed the ruling issued by the Grand Criminal Court in Amman, making the sentence final and mandatory after all legal appeals have been exhausted.
Details of the Crime:
The case files indicated that the crime was committed in a deceptive manner where the accused exploited his relationship with the victim and his position in the healthcare field by luring the victim to the accused's home in the north of the kingdom after taking measures to prevent their movements from being tracked.
Investigations confirmed that the accused deceived his friend into believing that he needed a sedative injection for back pain, before the victim lost consciousness, and the crime occurred inside the home as stated in the indictment and technical evidence.
Criminal Evidence Led to Unveiling the Crime:
The case began to unfold after parts of the body were found in the Salhoob area, where laboratory tests confirmed the victim's identity, sparking a comprehensive investigation that quickly identified the suspect.
A security source said that call record analysis showed that the accused was the last person to have contacted the victim, which reinforced the suspicions and led to his arrest and interrogation according to complete legal procedures.
The investigations revealed that the accused confessed to the details of the crime and led authorities to various locations in Al-Ramtha and other areas, supporting the material evidence in the case file.
A forensic report confirmed the presence of a sedative in the victim's body, which the court deemed a decisive indication of premeditation and planning of the crime.
Legal Descriptions and Final Sentence:
The Grand Criminal Court convicted the accused of premeditated murder with malice aforethought in September 2025, and decided that the act entailed a significant criminal danger that warrants the severest punishments stipulated by law.
The Supreme Court in its decision confirmed that the ruling was consistent with the law and the evidence presented, emphasizing the correctness of the judicial procedures and the completeness of the evidence upon which the decision was based.
Thus, the death sentence by hanging until death is final after exhausting all appeals, in a case regarded by judicial authorities as a serious crime that represents a blatant assault on the right to life.
