Khaberni - The Jordan Chamber of Commerce participated in prominent economic events held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, including the forty-first session of the General Assembly, the Executive and Financial Committee meetings of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, in addition to the activities of the third edition of the Mecca Halal Forum 2026.
The Jordanian delegation was led by the president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, His Excellency Khalil Mohammad Al-Haj Tawfiq, and included Behjat Hamdan, Khaled Kreishan, Mamdouh Al-Qaralleh, Engineer Haitham Rawajbeh, and Engineer Jamal Amro.
According to a statement from the chamber today, Tuesday, the delegation participated in the activities of the forty-first session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, chaired by the president of the Islamic Chamber, Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, with the participation of representatives from commerce chambers of 16 countries.
The members discussed a number of items on the agenda, including the election of board members for the new term, the approval of the appointment of the board chairman, and the adoption of the reports of the seventieth and seventy-first meetings of the financial committee, including the budget for 2026 and the financial committee's achievements for the years 2022–2025, in addition to discussing the plan of activities and programs for the upcoming year.
The activities of the assembly witnessed the re-election of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce as a member of the board of the Islamic Chamber for the new term, in a move that reflects confidence in the Jordanian role and its effective status in supporting joint Islamic economic work.
Furthermore, the members of the delegation participated in the seventy-first meeting of the financial committee of the Islamic Chamber, within the framework of the membership of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in the committee, where financial and regulatory issues were discussed, and financial governance was enhanced and institutional sustainability of the chamber's activities established.
In related activities, the delegation participated in the third edition of the Mecca Halal Forum under the slogan "Halal: A Professional Industry," held during the period 14–16 February 2026, forming an international platform to outline the future of the Halal sector, establish its standards, and enhance trust in its system on both the local and international levels, with the participation of government leaders, accreditation bodies, entrepreneurs, and local and international companies.
Al-Haj Tawfiq said that the meetings of the General Assembly represent the highest framework for decision-making and strategic orientations for joint Islamic economic work, emphasizing that they are a pivotal point for enhancing institutional governance and establishing principles of transparency, accountability, and ensuring the sustainability of initiatives and projects serving the private sector in member states.
He added that the importance of these meetings is not limited to the decisions issued, but extends to building effective and sustainable institutional relationships among the private sector components in Islamic countries, and unifying efforts to achieve comprehensive economic development, noting that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce views this platform as a strategic tool to enhance economic relations and build bridges of trust and cooperation.
He emphasized that the meetings of the financial committee complement this role by dedicating financial discipline and developing administrative and supervisory work mechanisms, thereby enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring the optimal use of resources, stressing that sound financial governance is fundamental to building strong institutions capable of continuity and impact.
He explained that the current phase, in light of global economic transformations, requires more integrated and flexible institutional work, building effective economic partnerships that support growth, stimulate investment, and provide job opportunities, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the economies of member countries.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the president and members of the Jordanian delegation held meetings with a number of presidents and representatives of the Islamic chambers, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, expand cooperation areas, and attract investments to Jordan.
