Khaberni - Indonesia announced on Sunday that it is preparing about 8,000 soldiers who might be deployed in the Gaza Strip as part of the international stabilization force under the plan of the American president, Donald Trump, regarding Gaza.
The spokesperson for the Indonesian Armed Forces, Doni Pramono, stated to the Associated Press that the soldiers will be ready by the end of June/June next year, with a thousand of them to be prepared by April/April 2026.
At the same time, he indicated that his country has not yet made a final decision on deploying forces in Gaza, and that discussions are ongoing in this regard.
He added that despite the decision not being finalized, the structure of the units and the timelines were prepared so that the forces are ready to deploy in Gaza at any time.
He reported that the Indonesian soldiers to be sent to Gaza will undergo medical examinations within a specific timetable.
The Indonesian Foreign Ministry reported yesterday, Saturday, that if forces are sent to Gaza, their scope of tasks will be limited and of a humanitarian nature.
The statement added that these forces will not engage in any combat activities, though it did not rule out that these might use "the right to self-defense as a last resort and in accordance with international law and to ensure the continuation of the mission".
It mentioned that the operational area of the Indonesian force will be limited to Gaza, as an integral part of the Palestinian territories.
The statement renewed Indonesia’s support for the establishment of the state of Palestine in the context of a two-state solution.
Indonesia is the largest Islamic country in the world in terms of population, with about 287 million people, and it does not have diplomatic relations with Israel.
Earlier, the Indonesian agency "Antara" quoted the commander of the armed forces Maruli Simanjuntak as saying that his country is preparing to deploy up to 8,000 elements of its armed forces in areas of the world experiencing conflicts and disputes, including the Gaza Strip.
On January 16th earlier this year, the White House announced the adoption of transitional management structures in Gaza, which include the "Peace Council", "Gaza Executive Council", "National Committee for Gaza Management", and "International Stabilization Force".
The International Stabilization Force will lead security operations in Gaza, disarmament, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials to the sector.
This step falls within the second phase of Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza, consisting of 20 items, and supported by United Nations Security Council Resolution Number 2803, issued on November 17, 2025.
