Khaberni - Security circles in Tel Aviv revealed on Monday the involvement of a number of Israelis in carrying out instructions from Iranian intelligence officials, which led to the manufacture and detonation of explosives deep inside Israel.
The channel "i24" described the case as "the most serious of its kind among instances of Israeli espionage on behalf of foreign intelligence agencies, particularly the Iranian one."
The Israeli military censorship imposed a publication ban on the details of the case until Sunday evening, but it responded to the newspaper "Israel Hayom's" request to publish part of the case, allowing the concerned court to discuss what it called "serious terrorist activity, carried out by Israelis for hostile elements."
According to the Hebrew channel, the court, on Monday morning, released an extensive summary of the investigations conducted by the General Security Service "Shin Bet" and the Israeli police regarding the case.
The investigation results indicated "strong suspicions" of the involvement of several defendants in providing various services to Iranian elements.
According to the information allowed for publication, the activity of the defendants was not limited to merely transferring information or initial contact with the Iranians but also included carrying out assignments from operators in Tehran to produce explosive materials and conduct tests on them, in preparation for their detonation at vital sites deep within Israel.
The security establishment in Tel Aviv described the case as a "significant escalation" in the activity of Iranian intelligence inside Israel.
The case adds to a series of attempts revealed over the past year, where Iranian intelligence officials contacted Israelis via social media, sometimes using fake identities, and offered them money to carry out tasks.
While previous cases mostly involved photographing security sites, the new case involved an advanced step, including the manufacture of explosive materials and conducting field tests on them, in preparation for detonating them at vital facilities within Israel.
Furthermore, i24 learned of the Israeli Attorney General's intention to file an indictment on Monday against a 21-year-old resident of Jerusalem, involved in committing serious security crimes, consisting of "conspiracy and espionage on behalf of Iranian intelligence officials for money."
The investigation results conducted by the General Security Service "Shin Bet," in cooperation with the police, revealed that the accused had been in contact since 2025 with an Iranian intelligence official whom he met through a social network.
The accused carried out a series of tasks, including gathering information and documenting photos of various areas in Israel, according to the investigation results.
