Chief of Staff of the Iranian Army Threatens Trump He Will Be a Lesson

Khaberni - Military and political leaders in Iran directed stern warnings at US President Donald Trump on Sunday, describing his threats as "reckless" and confirming that any "adventure" against Tehran would face a decisive response.

The Iranian "Tasnim" agency quoted the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Abdul Rahim Mousavi, as saying that Trump’s statements are "irresponsible", doubting the contradiction between the language of threat and the call for dialogue.

Mousavi said: "If Trump intends to go to war, then why does he talk about negotiation at the same time?"

He added: "Trump must realize that if he engages in a confrontation, he will find himself in a battle that will be a lesson for him.. and its results will make him stop issuing threats worldwide."

In a related context, the Vice President of the Iranian Consultative Council warned on state television that any new American adventure would face a decisive response.

He said: "The Iranian people do not want war but will strongly respond to any infringement on their security."

In a message aimed at Trump, he continued: "Do not put American soldiers in the face of an unwanted war."

On Friday, Trump said he believes negotiations with Iran will succeed, or else there will be "disastrous consequences."

In statements from the White House, he mentioned: "Negotiations with Iran must succeed, and if they do not, it will be a bad day for them.. I believe they will be successful" and will lead to a deal.
