Maid reveals why she killed Huda Shaarawi and apologizes to the Syrian people Video

Khaberni  - In a video published by the Syrian Ministry of Justice, the domestic worker for the late artist Huda Shaarawi spoke about the reason she committed her crime, which shook the artistic community, and expressed her apology to the Syrian people.

The video, published by the ministry, showed part of the reenactment of the crime. When the domestic worker of Ugandan nationality was asked about the motive for killing Shaarawi, she said: "Because she (Shaarawi) told me not to touch anything inside the refrigerator because it was poisoned," pointing to where they were sitting at that time.

About the details of the crime that occurred on January 29th last year, the worker explained: "That night, it was just the two of us, because the daughter's son (referring to the artist's grandson) would stay there until midnight and then leave... After that, Ms. Huda told me that she had poisoned me.. I thought we should die together.. because she had indeed poisoned me."

She continued: "I asked her to take me back to the office but she didn’t want to... My heart was telling me that I should return to the office.. so after she told me.. I told her, 'Okay, you've poisoned me'.. and I was crying.. I was suffering from malaria and it turned out it was not malaria.. She had really poisoned me, and today I will end it."

The criminal added: "So, at night, I went and got these things from the kitchen (the pestle)," indicating that directly after the crime, she swallowed several medications and poured fuel on the floor because she wanted to commit suicide.

She continued: "I went to the roof and jumped.. I wanted to kill myself and I did not die," explaining that after jumping from the roof, she exited through a small door to the street, to "go far away and commit suicide," but a woman stopped her and asked what was happening, to which the worker replied that she wanted help going to a hospital."

According to the worker’s story, the woman asked her son for help because he speaks English, and when he asked her what the problem was, she told him that the homeowner she worked for had expelled her, he conditioned that she inform the police before they went to the hospital, and when she refused, he called the security, who subsequently arrested her."

The Ugandan worker asserted that no one incited her or pushed her to commit this crime, emphasizing that she is telling the truth.

She explained, saying: "There was a misunderstanding between us (her and Huda Shaarawi) in November because I asked her for my salary to send to Uganda, but she refused and told me that she would give me my salary in four months if I was good.. and so we always had misunderstandings.. She (Shaarawi) treated me badly and didn’t feed me, and she often locked me in the bathroom and also beat me, and I told her daughter about it," she claimed.

And she concluded, tearfully saying: "I know I did that.. I apologize to all Syrians, forgive me.. I don’t know how I did what I did and how it came from me."
