Today, Saturday, FC Barcelona sent an official letter to the Spanish Football Federation and the Referees' Committee, to express their deep dissatisfaction with the recurring refereeing mistakes, which it described as unjust and lacking consistent standards.
In its statement, the club outlined five key points, notably the lack of consistency in disciplinary sanctions and the contradictory interpretations of handball decisions inside the penalty area. The club also criticized the usage of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, demanding complete transparency through the publication of all audio recordings from the VAR room without exception, to ensure educational and legal integrity.
The "Blaugrana" team emphasized that the accumulation of severe errors had shaken the trust in the integrity of the competition, demanding the establishment of a transparent disciplinary code for referees that specifies clear consequences in cases of negligence or gross errors.
The club concluded its statement by affirming that this movement aims to not only defend its own interests but also to ensure fair treatment and a stable framework for all participating clubs, demanding immediate and concrete actions to correct this course.
