Khaberni - A recent study conducted by Queen Mary University in London revealed new results related to how simple dietary modifications can extend the human lifespan.
The researchers clarified that adhering to a balanced diet reduces the risks of early death by up to 24%, thereby giving men the chance to add three years to their lives, while women benefit from an increase of 2.3 years.
The research was based on tracking the health status of about 104,000 middle-aged Britons, revealing that the biological response to food varies between males and females, necessitating precise customization of daily meals to achieve the maximum possible health benefits, apart from traditional standardized patterns.
Coffee for men and fish for women
The data published in the journal "Science Advances" showed that men achieve a longer lifespan when following a diet focused on reducing risks of diabetes and lowering blood sugar levels.
"Coffee" emerged as a key element in their diet, due to its content of antioxidants that protect the brain, heart, and liver, thus enhancing the body's ability to withstand chronic diseases.
In contrast, women surpassed in health by adopting a modified version of the Mediterranean diet, primarily based on increasing protein intake by eating fish, with the necessity of eliminating potatoes.
This is because fish provide essential fatty acids and minerals with low caloric density, while carbohydrates found in potatoes turn into sugars inside the digestive system, which could hinder goals of slimness and long life.
Joint recommendations to reduce the risks of chronic diseases
The study agreed on the need to reduce consumption of red and processed meats, and to avoid white flour, fried foods, and ready-to-eat meals for both genders.
Dr. "Jing Song," the lead author of the research, confirmed that these modifications contribute to the decline in the likelihood of strokes, heart diseases, cancer, and dementia, making healthy food a direct way to enhance life quality and its stability.
The optimal lifestyle pattern relies on integrating nuts, seeds, and legumes as primary substitutes, with an emphasis on olive oil as the main source of fats.
The results indicated that adhering to a diet schedule that includes vegetables and fruits on a daily basis represents a real investment in overall health and ensures tangible protection from cognitive and physical deterioration associated with aging in a healthy manner.
