The Endowments Launch Volunteer Teams to Reduce Random Waste Disposal

Khaberni  - The volunteer teams formed by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs have commenced their work in implementing the cleanliness strategy and reducing random waste disposal for the years 2026–2027.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Endowments, Ismail Al-Khatib, said on Saturday during a meeting with supervisors and members of 37 teams from Quran houses across the kingdom, that the launch of the youth volunteer teams in the directorates of endowments embodies a solid Islamic approach in empowering youth and entrusting them with public service responsibilities, inspired by the Prophet's biography in caring for youth and advancing them to leadership roles.

He explained that the volunteer teams form a nucleus of institutionalized work to implement the national strategy for cleanliness and reducing random waste disposal. The teams will operate according to clear weekly plans, away from seasonal work, with central follow-up by a volunteer team led by the Secretary-General and membership of various ministry employees, alongside a media team to document achievements.

He mentioned the allocation of incentive awards for the top 10 distinguished teams, and special attention to creative individuals, which reinforces the culture of sustainable volunteering from generation to generation.
On his part, the director of the King Abdullah II Institute for the Preparation of Preachers and their Qualification, Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Qudah, emphasized the importance of volunteer work given the presence of about 2.6 million Jordanian youth aged between 15 and 25 years, necessitating the direction of their energies towards serving their mosques, neighborhoods, and communities.

The Minister of Endowments, Mohammed Al-Khalaileh, announced at the beginning of this month the ministry's executive plan for the strategy, including the execution of 10,800 sermons and 450,000 preaching lessons, with the participation of about 65,000 volunteers, in addition to providing waste sorting baskets and environmentally friendly tools in 3000 mosques, and launching cleaning campaigns in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Amman Municipality to cover approximately 1500 schools, and producing between 50 and 75 visual educational materials, with the adoption of semi-annual reports to measure impact.
