Khaberni - The President of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, Yousef Shawarbeh, inaugurated on Saturday the Rehab Street and Walkway in the Nasr area, which was implemented by the municipality as part of its efforts to enhance the culture of sports in local communities, and to encourage outdoor walking and cycling enthusiasts to carry out their activities in a safe environment, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens in various areas.
The walkway, which is 750 meters long, was designed according to the global model in terms of colors and specifications, based on some international experiences, painted in maroon, and featuring clear ground markings which contribute to improving the urban appearance and enhancing the safety level for road users.
Shawarbeh also inaugurated Rehab Street, executed by the municipality at a cost of 9 million dinar including land appropriations, as part of its continuous efforts to develop infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to citizens in various areas of the capital.
Rehab Street contributes to providing necessary traffic and engineering solutions to address traffic congestion, connecting Al-Hizam Street, Al-Mahatta area, and the bus complex, passing through Al-Furosiyya Street.
It also aims to reduce traffic congestion for those coming from Al-Zarqa area towards Nasr and Al-Quwaysimah areas, in addition to connecting Al-Mahatta, Nasr, and Al-Murqab areas with Al-Ghobawi Street and its intersections with main roads along Al-Ghobawi Street in the future, aligning with the city's planning, expansion, and expected future growth towards the east, serving vital projects in that direction including (the Dry Port, Slaughterhouse, Car City, Al-Ghobawi Landfill).
The project includes a road consisting of three lanes in both directions with a total length of 2500 meters and a width of 40 meters, separated by a 2-meter wide median, in addition to service roads on both sides of the main road.
The project also included the implementation of a complete sewer line across the entire project at a cost of 500,000 dinar, and a box culvert for draining rainwater with a length of 2500 meters, in addition to a drainage network for rainwater with different diameters.
Amman Municipality carried out sidewalk works, constructed retaining walls on site, installed modern lighting in the medians, in addition to street planning aimed at enhancing traffic safety and organizing traffic movements, and planted 3000 trees.
