Water Leak at the Mona Lisa Wing in the Louvre

A union representative disclosed that the "Denon" wing in the Louvre Museum, which houses some of the most valuable paintings in the museum, experienced a water leak last Thursday evening. However, the display area of the famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci was not affected.

The union representative said today, Friday: "Due to a technical malfunction on the upper floor overnight, the display area was closed to the public and scaffolding was erected," according to Reuters.

He added that an assessment of potential damages was not available until noon today.

Arrest of 9
On another note, the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the police had arrested 9 people in connection with an investigation into a ticket fraud case at the Louvre Museum, which may have cost the world's most visited museum 10 million euros ($11.86 million).

He continued in a statement that among those arrested were two museum officials, several guides, and a person described as the gang leader.

The police also seized nearly one million euros in cash and about 500,000 euros deposited in bank accounts.

It is noteworthy that this leak is the second in less than 3 months at a museum that has recently experienced a series of setbacks, including stunning jewelry thefts, strikes, and a broad investigation into ticket forgery, putting its management under intense scrutiny.
