Economic Expert Early Salary Disbursement in Jordan Before Ramadan Is Unjustified

Khaberni - Economic expert Mohammad Al-Bashir stated that the decision to disburse salaries early to citizens before the onset of the holy month of Ramadan is economically "unjustified" for the consumer.

Al-Bashir explained that the budget of Jordanian families has become significantly exhausted due to the continuous rise in prices and the decrease in purchasing power of the currency due to inflation, confirming that many families are no longer able to meet their basic needs under these difficult circumstances.

Al-Bashir pointed out that this decision is not in the right direction, as it will create a real burden on families during the remaining days of the month.

Although he clarified that the government took this action with the intention of easing the burden on people for the reception of the holy month and to stimulate movement among traders and shops, he confirmed that the benefits will be in favor of traders only.

He warned that spending the salary in a short period will make the citizen suffer later, as having money early ultimately turns into a living crisis.

Al-Bashir noted that many citizens will find themselves forced to resort to debt or lending companies to bridge the financial gap, especially since the consumption basket has become large and complex before Ramadan, including food, housing, transportation, and other costs.

He explained that "adapting and seeking other safe havens" like borrowing or loans has become the dominant scenario for the majority of families trying to balance their incomes and their needs.

In conclusion of his statements, Al-Bashir emphasized that the radical solution does not lie in advancing the salary dates, but in addressing the situation of the consumer and the Jordanian producer together.

He called for the need to reduce sales taxes to facilitate the selling and buying process and to significantly lower prices, which will positively reflect on the purchasing power of the citizen and stimulate the national economy away from temporary "pain reliever" financial solutions that burden the citizen in the long term.
