Moussa AlTaamari Shines Disrupts Luis Enriques Plans

Khaberni -  Paris Saint-Germain suffered an unexpected loss to Rennes 3-1, on Friday, during the 22nd round of the French Football League.

Paris Saint-Germain's tally is frozen at 51 points in the top spot, only ahead of Lens, in second place by two points, who will play on Saturday against their host Paris FC, in the same round of matches.

The leadership of Paris Saint-Germain, the French and European champions and the runner-up world champion, is now under threat, as a win for Lens against Paris FC would give them the lead by a margin of one point over coach Luis Enrique's team.

On the other hand, Rennes raised its points to 34 in the fifth position, five points behind fourth-place Marseille, who will face Strasbourg in the same round.

Rennes took the lead in the 34th minute through Jordanian star Moussa Al-Taamari, then his teammate Stepan Leipol added the second goal in the 69th minute.

Paris Saint-Germain returned to the game with a goal by Ousmane Dembele in the 71st minute, but Rennes succeeded in scoring the third goal in the 81st minute through Breel Embolo.

Rennes dominated the first half, prevented Paris Saint-Germain from threatening their goal, and tightly secured their penalty area with the largest number of players, also launching several counter-attacks.

As a reward for their performance, Rennes scored the first goal through Moussa Al-Taamari, after he received the ball and maneuvered deep into the defense of Paris Saint-Germain, firing a powerful shot that shook the net of the capital's team in the 34th minute.

After leading in the first half, Rennes gained confidence in the second half and created many dangerous chances to threaten the goal of goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, who tried to fend off the dangerous opportunities.

In the 69th minute, Stepan Leipol scored the second goal for Rennes after receiving a pass from his teammate Sebastian Szymanski to put the ball into the net.

Two minutes later, Paris Saint-Germain scored a goal to reduce the deficit through Ousmane Dembele, with Achraf Hakimi providing a cross from the right flank, which Dembele headed into the net.

In the 81st minute, Breel Embolo scored the third goal for Rennes, after receiving a cross from the left side from his teammate Ludovic Blas, placing it with his foot into Safonov's net.

Rennes successfully controlled the game proceedings until the referee blew the final whistle with a victory of three goals to one.
