Iranian President My salary is a thousand dollars

Khaberni - Iranian President Masoud Bazshkian confirmed during today's Thursday meeting that the value of salaries in the country has seen a significant decline compared to the past, indicating that he previously used to receive a salary worth 6,000 tomans, which was then equivalent to 6,000 dollars, but now, in his capacity as president, he earns only about a thousand dollars, which points to the decline in currency value and purchasing power.

In a related context, Bazshkian stressed during his meeting with the families of victims and those injured in the December protests, that the government is doing everything in its power to mitigate the effects of those events, affirming that it is particularly and continuously following up on the conditions of the affected families and striving to address the consequences of the recent disturbances.

For his part, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Syed Sattar Hashemi confirmed that the ministry and government's priority is to restore internet service to its stable and normal state, after the disruptions that affected international internet following the recent events, which raised concerns among many economic actors.

In his statements today, he pointed out that about 10 million Iranians directly or indirectly rely on the digital economy for their livelihood, making the stability of communications a pressing necessity.

Earlier, Fars News Agency reported that the salaries of employees will see varying increases next year, with someone earning 13 million tomans going up to about 18.6 million tomans, and someone earning 17 million going up to 23.4 million tomans, while the salary of someone earning 55 million tomans will reach about 69 million tomans.

The agency noted that employees earning 100 million tomans will receive the lowest increase rate at 23%.

These developments come amid protests that recently erupted from Tehran's bazaar, where a number of traders closed their shops in protest against the deteriorating economic conditions and rising prices, before the movements extended to other areas, amid escalating concerns regarding the continuing decline of the local currency.

Today, the exchange rate of the dollar exceeded the barrier of 161,000 tomans in the market, reflecting ongoing pressures on the Iranian economy and the exacerbation of livelihood challenges.
