The Jordanian Narrative in Classrooms How Do We Create The Compass for Future Generations
الكاتب: د. أسيل الشوارب

In an era where knowledge is no longer a luxury but an existential weapon, the "Jordanian National Narrative" emerges as one of the most important pillars of the educational process. It is not merely recollecting dry dates, or stories and events; rather, it is the "spirit of the state" that must permeate the minds of our students, shaping their professional and human identity in a rapidly changing world through:
Firstly: Education as an act of "resilience," began when Jordan believed that humans are its greatest resource. Hence, our educational narrative formed, considering "the classroom" the real mine.
Instilling this narrative in the hearts of the rising generations transforms the pursuit of knowledge from just chasing a university degree to a national act of "resilience." A student who understands the magnitude of the challenges that Jordan overcame to reach where it is today will certainly grasp that his excellence in technology labs or surgery rooms is a continuation of the national building process accustomed to turning the impossible into possible.
Secondly: Linking "heritage" and "current stances"; The Jordanian narrative cannot be separated from our current challenges and honorable stances. The historical steadfastness of Jordan, and its leading and humanitarian role towards regional issues—primarily the Palestinian cause—is an integral part of this narrative. When we teach these values, we are not indoctrinating lessons, rather we are connecting the student to his genuine roots, and teaching him that "Jordan" is the lung from which the needy breathes, and the model that smartly combines global modernity with entrenched national values.
Thirdly: The teacher is "the narrator" and the guardian of consciousness
Here comes the role of "educational leadership"; the teacher and academic are not merely information conveyors in the age of "artificial intelligence," but are "guardians of consciousness" and narrators of the national story. Our duty today is to "update the narrative" to speak the language of the youth and to be present in every specialization, from education and childhood to engineering and medicine.
In conclusion, the national identity is not a static condition, but a "process" we build every day with our accomplishments. Teaching the generations how we started, how we endured, and by what principles we stand by today is the only guarantee to know for certain where we are heading. Building the human element is, and will remain, the shortest and most assured path to building nations.
