The Medical Association Raises Complaint Submission Fees by 100

Khaberni - The Medical Association has raised the complaint submission fee by 100%, making it 80 dinars instead of 40 dinars, according to a source within the association.
The association justified its decision stating that it comes as "part of an approach to institutionalize regulatory work and ensure the accuracy of the technical reports issued by the specialized committees".
According to the association's figures, last year it dealt with 71 complaints received, where the procedures were not limited to administrative review but also included the formation of 53 specialized technical committees comprising 159 physicians from among the elite consultants, aimed at ensuring the highest standards of impartiality and accuracy in issuing professional judgments.
The complaints committee successfully resolved and archived 53 files after confirming their compliance with medical standards, while 5 physicians were referred to the disciplinary council for necessary sanctions, whereas 18 complaints are still under follow-up pending the completion of technical responses from the concerned hospitals.
Orthopedic surgery topped the list of complaints with 14 instances, followed by gynecology and obstetrics with 9 complaints, and in-vitro fertilization with 8 complaints, while the rest of the complaints were distributed among cosmetic surgery, psychiatry, and neurology sectors, each receiving 6 complaints.
Regarding the "fee assessment" file, the committee issued decisions to refund financial amounts to citizens totaling 8402 dinars, after proving the existence of exaggerations in medical fees or violations of the approved fee schedule.
